A Distinct Identity
Here at Sistas Thrilled About Reading, Inc., we are driven by help others in need within our community. We have launched excellent initiatives through giving and outreach in our community. Our goal is to spread the importance of literacy to empower children to excel at learning, provide book scholarships to high school seniors who want to further their education and who is leading the charge by giving back through community service, and a host of other community service initiatives that include feeding and providing toiletries to the homeless, donating time and efforts to mentoring young children. We are proud to serve our community!
Our Story
Sistas Thrilled About Reading, Inc. (a Book Club) was established on October 27, 2012. We are a group of women who love to read and be engaged in our community. In 2016, we received the distinct honor of becoming a 501 (C) (3) Non-Profit organization. On this platform, we have received local and national awards, build partnerships with others to help upbuild our community. Some of our philanthropic efforts are providing book scholarships, donating books, adopt-a-school, helping homeless women and serving our elderly population. But, we are growing strong and finding more ways to help those who are underserved and in need. Our discussions, fellowship, engagement and community service initiatives are all guided by Proverbs 3:5 - “Trust In the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding". Lastly, when you lead by prayer, you are guided by vision..Our slogan is simple "Readers and Leaders".
